2. 9(1)Prompt assignment. Within seven days after the entry of an oral plea of not guilty or the filing of a written plea of not guilty, the court or its designee shall set the date and time for trial in writing with copies to counsel and to the clerk for the court file.2. 9(2)Firmness of trial date. The date assigned for trial shall be considered firm. Motions for continuance are discouraged. A motion for continuance shall not be granted except upon a showing of good and compelling cause.2. 9(3)Priority assignment. Prosecutions for violations of Iowa Code sections 709.2, 709.3, 709.4 and 726.2 shall, as practicable, be given priority on a court’s criminal docket.
