This Rule is derived as follows:
Section (a) is derived from former Rule 723 b 1, 2, 3 and 7 and c 1.
Section (b) is derived from former Rule 723.
Section (c) is in part derived from former M.D.R. 726 and in part new.
Section (d) is derived from the first sentence of former M.D.R. 726 d.
Section (e) is new.
HISTORICAL NOTES
2007 Orders
The December 4, 2007, order, in section (b), added the requirement that the court announce on the record the defendant waiving the right to counsel.
2012 Orders
The June 12, 2012, added a cross reference.
2013 Orders
The November 21, 2013, order, added new subsection (a)(6) pertaining to a defendant charged with an offense that carries a penalty of incarceration; and added a reference to Rule 4-213(b) in section (c).
2014 Orders
